   How to arrange an appointment?

Usually the first step is to obtain a referral to the Centre from your doctor. However, this is not absolutely necessary and we are happy to see you directly. However, some insurance companies prefer that patients are referred by their own General Practitioner.

You can make a direct appointment by contacting Outpatient Bookings at Ross Hall hospital.

Richard Molloy at the Scottish Hernia Centre has consultation appointments each day Monday & Friday at Ross Hall.

During your initial consultation, a full medical history is taken. You will undergo a thorough physical examination. We will discuss options to treat your hernia and you will be able to ask questions specific to your case.

   Paying for treatment

Patients with insurance with all the major insurers (BUPA, AXA-PPP, Aviva, PruHealth, WPA, Cigna and most others) are covered to undergo surgery at the Centre.

For patients without healthcare insurance, consultation can be confirmed at the time of booking. A dedicated page outlining the costs of consultation and hernia surgery is available here.

The Centre also offers very attractive all-inclusive fixed price packages for those that do not have medical insurance.
